Huzzah and Thank You to all that participated in Crossroads’ “2017 Revolutionary Spirit Night at the All-Star Game.” Thanks to all of you we “hit it out of the ballpark!” We brought the Revolution to over 8,000 people from six states! Highlights from the night included General George Washington taking the mound to throw out the first pitch, musket fire during the National Anthem, colonial ice cream making, and the Black Mariners of the Marbleheaders. There were also over 45 reenactors from the 2nd NJ Regiment, Mott’s Artillery, Queens Rangers, and Heard’s Brigade set up outside the ballpark with an encampment that included 7-8 tents as well as musket fire drills and the Queens Rangers on horseback. Fans that attended the game also got to see mock colonial hearth cooking, spinning and weaving, an 18th century medical tent, colonial games, appearances by Ben Franklin and Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton, and performances by the Fife and Drums of the Old Barracks and Practitioners of Musick. Inside we had a great representation of heritage partners with tons of games and activities for the fans. The night culminated with patriotic songs being played during the Fireworks and Mott’s Artillery firing off the cannon as the grand finale to the night.
A shout-out to all those that participated and thank you again to our sponsors, First Bank of NJ, AlphaGraphics New Brunswick and the Somerset Patriots!
