Behind the Scenes Tour at the Hermitage
Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm
For the first time, The Hermitage Museum invites the public to explore the historic home’s undecorated nooks and crannies, witness to 250 years of history.
Dr. Delight Dodyk, long time Hermitage volunteer and celebrated historian, will lead tours on an exploration of the Hermitage’s past through areas of the home that are typically closed to the public.
During the tour, guests are invited to explore the cellar, second floor backrooms, and attic. Dr. Dodyk will explain how the structural transformation of The Hermitage in the mid-19th century improved domestic life, especially for women. You’ll also be invited to glimpse into the “secret room” and find out the truth behind the “underground tunnel.”
Come explore the many nooks and crannies of the historic Gothic Revival home and learn about the unseen history of this local architectural gem.
Tours are at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Tickets are $75 and can be purchased here. This event is a fundraiser for the Hermitage Museum. All proceeds support the museum.
Not suggested for children under the age 16. This tour is not handicap accessible and not advisable for people who have trouble walking or vision impaired. The tour is approximately an hour and half and light refreshments will be served.
