Bordentown Goes to War: The Peoples’ experience in America’s Conflicts, 1754-2018

Opening Weekend: Saturday, October 6th from 12-4pm

Open the 1st & 3rd Saturday each month, from 12-4pm (through December)

Start your journey with Bordentown’s local people from pre-revolutionary times through the founding of our great country and beyond. Hear stories of abolitionist actions and the Civil War, personal experiences of people and places in Bordentown during WWi and WWII. We will be presenting archival documents such as photos and letters of those who lived through this country’s most trying times that have been pulled from our archives and never revealed to the public!

To highlight a few key events in our nation’s history, this exhibit will include the following:
– the Indian treaties;
– 1776: Revolutionary Skirmishes and the importance of the Battle of the Kegs;
– 1812 – The Constitution (ship)
– 1861 – The Civil War: abolitionists, the 9th and 3rd regiments, letters from the Hutchinsons, and the female college support.
– The Ogontz School and the Bordentown Military Institute
– 1917 – the Dunns, the postwar parade, and blimps
– 1941 – Lt. Boldizar and hometown rationing;
– 1950s-2000s – Korea, Fallout Shelters (Cold War), and so much more!
