Bordentown Historical Society Presents Point Breeze and the Natural World Bonaparte Collection Lecture

The Bordentown Historical Society will host a lecture at 1:00pm with Peter J. Tucci, Partner at Fox Rothschild, who maintains the world’s largest collection of letters written by and furniture owned by Joseph Bonaparte, the elder brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. Joseph was at one time King of Naples and later King of Spain. Peter recently curated an exhibition of his Bonaparte collection, which was profiled in The New York Times. Peter also appeared in a television documentary, “Bonaparte’s Retreat,” which has aired many time on PBS..
The newest exhibit at the Bordentown Historical Society Museum focuses on the home of the man whose council was sought by the Marquis de Lafayette and numerous American politicians. Artifacts from Joseph Bonaparte’s personal collection at Point Breeze, a country home first owned by American diploma Stephen Sayre, before becoming the gorgeous estate of Joseph Bonaparte, will be on display. Many of the pieces on display include letters, furniture, 1808 Spain Proclamation and an early print of the Point Breeze estate owned by Fox Rothschild’s Partner, Peter J. Tucci. Also on display will be a recreated early taxidermy station, two early volumes of American Ornithology and an 1849 letter written by Charles Lucien Bonaparte.
