Colonial Tavern Night at the Proprietary House
Friday, June 1, 2018 at 6:30 pm
His Excellency, Governor William Franklin requests the pleasure of your company at a very special event to launch a major fundraising campaign by the Proprietary House Association. On Friday, June 1st, please join us for an evening of merriment at a “Colonial Tavern Night.” Space is limited. So please reserve your tickets ($75 per person – must be 21 or over) as soon as possible. See the attached invitation for further event details.
Sadly, the walls of Proprietary House are crumbling! Years of neglect and deterioration now threaten the survival of this centuries-old architectural treasure, once the residence of colonial New Jersey’s royal governor. Restoration of a building of such scale and age as that of Proprietary House is an enormously expensive undertaking. The estimated cost of repairing the building’s exterior brick and stone walls alone now exceeds $1 million.
Mounting costs for all the needed restoration work at Proprietary House have caused the Association to step up our fundraising efforts, in the hope of preserving this important historic site for future generations. The Association’s “Colonial Tavern Night” event is part of our outreach for wider support of Proprietary House in the heritage, business and philanthropic communities.
To reserve “Colonial Tavern Night” tickets and for information, please phone 732-826-5527 or send email to [email protected]. Please mail your checks to: Proprietary House Association, 149 Kearny Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ, 08861.
We hope to see you on June 1st for an evening of great fun – colonial style!
