From Ferry to Ferry – 100 horses, 18 cannons and the wagons – First Day hike at Washington Crossing State Park
Monday, January 1, 2018 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
When Washington and his troops crossed the Delaware River to New Jersey on Christmas night, 1776, they brought 100 horses, 18 cannons and a host of wagons that held the army’s gear. On New Years Day, join historians at Washington Crossing State Park on a guided walk of the route taken by the “stuff” of the Continental Army that fateful evening. Sights and stops include the Washington Crossing Bridge, the Nelson House, the Ferry Boat replica, the pedestrian bridge, overlook, the Stone Barn, and the Johnson Ferry House.
Meet hike leaders at McKonkey’s Ferry Tavern just across the river in Washington Crossing Historic Park, at the corner of Rte. 532 and Rte. 32 in Washington Crossing PA. The hike will conclude at Washington Crossing State Park in New Jersey. Some parking is available on Rte. 532 just after the Inn and in other public lots nearby (within a block of the site). Coming from New Jersey, the Inn is immediately after the bridge on the right.
