Hike Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail in Washington Valley Park

Hike a five-mile portion of the Washington-Rochambeau National Historic Trail on May 6 as the NJ Sierra Club explores the Washington Valley Park, Bridgewater Township portion of the trail for the first time.
Washington Valley Park consists of approximately 719 acres that lie along the First Watchung Ridge. “March to Victory” hiking the lovely woods trails and cross Middle Brook where in August of 1781 about 5,500 French Troops marched through Bridgewater on their way to defeat the British at the Battle of Yorktown. Eagle Scout Christopher Solan’s website explains the importance of the trail in Somerset County.
This hike is designated “easy” in difficulty, and the Sierra Club requests that participants contact hike leaders George & Leona to register at [email protected] or 609-259-3734.
Meet at Dunkin Donuts, Blacksmith Commons at 1918 Washington Valley Road in Martinsville for refreshments and rest room. The group will then drive to Bridgewater School of Music (next to Gabriel’s Fountain), 1946 Washington Valley Rd. in Martinsville. Park in back of green building. Due to limited parking at the trailhead, participants will car pool from the meeting spot.
