September 26 at 7:30 pm
The Mendham Borough Historical Society will meet on Tuesday, September 26, at 7:30 PM in the Garabrant Center, 4 Wilson Street, in the Borough.
The program, “The Friends of Pitney Farm,” starts at 7:45 PM, presented by Omie Medford Ryan, board president. Incorporated in 2013 as a nonprofit pursuing charitable purposes, their mission is “dedicated to the historic preservation of Pitney Farm and the use of the property to provide cultural and educational benefit to the community.” O.M. Ryan’s visual and narrative presentation focuses on the history of Pitney, its role in the development of the Mendhams, the new, creative current approach for saving and repurposing the homestead and gardens. Important as well is gathering feedback from the community and beginning a conversation to present the Mendhams’ history at Pitney Farm. Ms. Ryan, MA, resides in Mendham Township, was a City Planner for NYC, and adjunct lecturer in geography at Colgate University. The public is welcome; parking/program are free.
