New Jersey Cemeteries and Tombstones: History in the Landscape
October 23 at 7:00 pm
As Halloween approaches, the Woodbridge Historical Association monthly meeting on Monday, October 23, will focus on New Jersey Cemeteries and Tombstones with speaker Mark Nonesteid of the Middlesex County Office of Culture and Heritage. His discussion describes the cultural history of New Jersey’s historic cemeteries and burial grounds from the 17th century to the dawn of the 21st century. This presentation provides an understanding of the State’s historical burial places and the wide variety of gravemarkers they contain. Mr. Nonesteid co-authored New Jersey Cemeteries and Tombstones: History in the Landscape which was the recipient of the 2010 New Jersey Studies Academic Alliance Award, non- fiction scholarly category.
On October 23, the meeting will be held at the Woodbridge Public Library Downstairs Meeting Room at 7pm. The Woodbridge Public Library is on Amboy Avenue and George Fredericks Plaza.
