Open House at the Van Allen House

The Van Allen House is open for tours and events usually on the third Sunday of every month from 1pm to 4pm. Explore and support the Van Allen House as the restorations projects continue at this Dutch stone house built in 1748 by Henry Van Alen (or Hendrick Van Ale). The house is located at the corner of Ramapo Valley Road and Franklin Avenue. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places most notably for its architectural significance and its connection to the Revolutionary War. Documents show that George Washington and his troops stopped at the Van Allen House on July 14, 1777 on their way to West Point.
**Please call the Oakland Historical Society at 201-337-9652 before visiting to make sure that the house is open as it is undergoing restorations.
