The Battle of Chestnut Neck presentation at Forsythe NWR
Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Discover the story of the Battle of Chestnut Neck, not far from where it happened! Atlantic County Historian Norman Goos visits Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge to share the contributions of New Jersey’s Patriot seamen in the fight for independence, most notably the story of the October 1778 British attack on the privateer center at Chestnut Neck. The site, now marked by an imposing column topped by a Revolutionary-era sailor, is not far from exit 48 of the Garden State Parkway.
