Union Forge Heritage Association – Forging & Firearm Showing & Demonstration

May 20 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Kicking off our year-long calendar of events is the celebration the 275th Anniversary of the Union IronWorks. The Union Forge Heritage Association is hosting a forging and firearms show and demonstration on May 20th from noon-5pm. Ryan Amos with the New Jersey Blacksmith Association will entertain and educate our guests with an actual forging demonstration showing how tools were forged in the Colonial era. He will also be offering handcrafted items for sale. Special guest lecturers, Mascera and Pritchell will discuss firearms from the Colonial era and French and Indian War and show how they were used. A mock demonstration of an antique black powder firearm “firing” will also take place! As newly discovered records show that the Turner House property was also known as Maple Grove Farm, there will also be a focus on all things “maple” including homemade maple ice cream, a memorial maple tree planting and other maple snacks.
