The Village of Connecticut Farms
November 27 at 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Tom Beisler and Tom Haggerty, trustees of the Union Township Historical Society will present “The Village of Connecticut Farms.” In the late summer and fall of 1667, a group of families from the coast of Long Island Sound came to newly established Elizabethtown, New Jersey, and settled in an area west of town, which they named after their former home–hence the name “Connecticut Farms.” Destroyed by the British during the Battle of Connecticut Farms on June 7, 1780, the village was rebuilt. The settlement later became the core of the Township of Union in 1808.
Come learn about the history of the Village of Connecticut Farms, the precursor of present-day Union Township. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free. For more information, please call 908-687-0048.
