|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 12:00pm, repeating until April 30, 2017

Wool Days Spring Festival

Based on an age-old springtime custom, Wool Days will begin at the Park District’s Longstreet Farm in Holmdel, where sheep will be sheared of their winter coats. After watching the collies herd and the technique of the shearers, participants can take a wagon ride to Monmouth County Historical Association’s historic Holmes-Hendrickson House, where costumed interpreters will demonstrate spinning and weaving techniques from the 18th century and give tours of our carefully preserved circa 1754 Dutch house of a local well-to-do farming family.

This year MCHA is expanding the festivities into Wool Days Spring Festival, a fun, family oriented event hearkening back to an earlier era. Much like the small community markets that brought together neighbors in Colonial times, this year we will have local artisans and purveyors to participate in a craft fair as part of the days’ activities.  Food trucks will also be present selling hot dogs and ice cream.

This event is free and open to the public.
