The farmsteads of Thomas and William Clarke were the setting for open engagement between American and British forces on January 3, 1777 during the Battle of Princeton. Today some of the land where the battle took place has been protected within Princeton Battlefield State Park. Behind a pillared monument is a stone patio marking the graves of 21 British and 15 American soldiers who perished in the battle.
