The landscape of the Van Liew-Suydam Farmstead has changed little since the eighteenth century when New Jersey was a largely rural, agricultural society. During the early months of 1777 this farm and others throughout Somerset and Middlesex Counties were plagued by foraging parties of British and Hessian soldiers.
