Did you know that the intersection of Grand and Washington in Jersey City’s Paulus Hook neighborhood once held a Revolutionary War fort? Before dawn on August 19, 1779, Major Henry “Light Horse Harry” Lee led the patriots to retake the fort from the British. On August 19th from 6:30pm-7:30pm, join the fife and drum at Washington and Dudley Streets and march up to Paulus Hook Park at Washington and Grand in commemoration of the Battle of Paulus Hook. Join the Paulus Hook Association to hear the history, as told by Sam (Sam AM) Kirk, and give a hearty huzzah to the patriots! For more information click here.
