American Revolution Night – Spirits of ’76 at Arm & Hammer Park
Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
For the first time, Crossroads is bringing the revolution to the Trenton Thunder at Arm & Hammer Park!
We are taking baseball fans back to the year 1776! Trenton played a pivotal role in the American Revolution and on Tuesday, August 6, those in attendance will get a chance to learn about that and experience life as it was back then for residents of the town.
Get there early before the game to walk among the encampments of the Continental Army and the British Army and catch a glimpse of the 2nd NJ Regiment and the 1st Battalion of NJ Volunteers in action with their musket drills, explore the inner workings of an 18th century cannon, listen to authentic period music of the time by the Washington Crossing Fife and Drums, see musical performances by the Liberty Tree, meet members of Glover’s Marblehead Regiment, watch an 18th century doctor manipulate his medical tools, talk with camp followers of NJ History Alive as they demonstrate mock hearth cooking, taste 18th century ice cream with Heart to Hearth Cookery, enjoy colonial games, and meet Benjamin Franklin (portrayed by Mike Kochan) and General George Washington (portrayed by John Godzieba).
The action continues inside the ballpark where many history exhibitors will be set up along the concourse with fun games and activities for the family. These groups include Crossroads of the American Revolution, the Sons of the Revolution NJ, the Old Barracks Museum, Princeton Battlefield Society, Washington Crossing Park Association- NJ, the New Jersey Daughters of the American Revolution, the New Jersey Sons of the American Revolution, Washington Crossing Historic Park, the Miller-Cory House, the Liberty Tree of the History on the Hoof, and the NJ State Park Service Office of Historic Sites.
On the field there will also be a presentation of American flags by the Sons of the Revolution Color Guard, a musket firing, cannon firing and George Washington will throw out the first pitch.
