East Amwell Historical Society’s Sixth Annual Holiday House Tour

Sunday, December 2, 2018 at 1:00 pm

Get a rare opportunity to tour four historic private homes when the East Amwell Historical Society conducts its sixth annual Holiday House Tour on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m.
This year’s tour will take visitors to one of the largest Victorian houses in the township. This 1850 home features large rooms, high ceilings and will be beautifully decorated for the holidays.
From there, guests will travel to a restored barn with large open spaces, big wooden beams, plenty of nooks and crannies, and stunning views.
From there it’s on to a 1735 home that was recently featured in Country Sampler magazine. This house, originally a general store, is filled with antiques and historic memorabilia that will surely excite everyone entering through its historic front door.
Finally, the tour will stop at the Henry Landis House in downtown Ringoes. This charming stone home was built by saddle maker Henry Landis in 1750, and is best known as the place where the General Marquis de Lafayette recuperated from an illness when passing through Ringoes in 1778.
“The Landis House was on our very first tour, and every year people have asked to have it on again,” said EAHS President Jim Davidson. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer everyone the rare opportunity to step inside this incredible home.”
The tour will return to the East Amwell Township Hall at 4:30 p.m., where guests are invited to drive to the nearby East Amwell Museum for refreshments. The museum will be decorated for the holidays and will have special exhibitions on antique Christmas cards, angels and Santas. Guests can also enjoy the museum’s current exhibition featuring the art of local photographer Nancy Parker.
Space is very limited, and this tour sells out quickly. Tickets are $25 per person and must be paid for in advance. For reservations, please contact Gloria Wargo at [email protected] or 908-782-1601. Send checks to EAHS, P.O. Box 98, Ringoes, NJ 08551. Guests should plan to
arrive at 12:45 p.m. so they can be checked in and seated, as the bus will leave promptly at 1 p.m.
