“Farming in the Millstone Valley: Past and Present“ – video/discussion at Plainfield Library
Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Learn about the agricultural heritage of Central New Jersey as the Historical Society of Plainfield presents a showing of the documentary “Farming in the Millstone Valley: Past and Present” at the Plainfield Public Library on August 3 at 11:00 a.m.
Settled by Dutch farmers three centuries ago, the Millstone Valley helped New Jersey earn its Garden State nickname and became the breadbasket of a booming New York City metropolis. That story, culminating in today’s farm-to-table movement, is told in this new documentary film.
Following the video, Historical Society of Plainfield President Nancy Piwowar will share an introduction to farming in the Plainfield area, while Millstone Valley Preservation Coalition President Brad Fay will provide additional insights about the larger region.
