The Metlar-Bodine House Museum (Circa 1728) Annual Gala Event
The evening includes the return of Leigh Keno, well known public television antiques expert as the auctioneer, cocktails, specialty wines & beer bars, complimenting a delicious appetizers and entrees menu, KINDERHOOK providing music for listening as well as dancing plus live & silent auctions items like vacations, dinners at many of NJ’s best restaurants, theatre tickets and, of course, art & antiques, round out this enjoyable event that funds many of the museum’s projects.
The event will support our $2 million “Our Plan is Revolutionary” campaign to expand our State & National Registered Historic Site, reestablish exhibits harmed by a 2003 fire and endow the museum’s operation well into the 21st century.
The planned expansion will accommodate a significant artifact, the Ross Hall Wall, an American treasure salvaged from General George Washington’s Piscataway headquarters where, in July 1778, immediately following the Battle of Monmouth, he wrote the military order for the Continental Army to celebrate July 4th in the first organized expression of Independence Day, a tradition we celebrate to this very day!
