Park Day at the Old Barracks

April 6 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Grab your rake and a pair of gloves and join the Old Barracks as they prepare for another season of programming at the museum!

On Saturday, April 6th, the Old Barracks Museum will be participating in the American Battlefield Trust’s Park Day event, and the Old Barracks is in need of volunteers to help with some spring cleaning on the grounds. They will also require the use of a truck for hauling away some larger logs, etc. There’s plenty to do around the property, so if you are interested in getting your hands dirty for a good cause we would appreciate any help you can provide. Volunteers should bring their own work gloves and rakes, and the Old Barracks will provide lots of coffee and donuts!

Volunteers will meet at the registration table at 9:00 am. Park Day will last until 1:00 pm but we are happy to have volunteers stay for all or part of the morning.

As a thank you to their volunteers, Old Barracks will be offering a free tour of the museum after the event. The museum will be closed to the public on Park Day. To register for this event, please visit barracks.org/park-day

ABOUT THE OLD BARRACKS MUSEUM: Originally built in 1758 to house British soldiers during the French and Indian War, the Old Barracks bore witness to the Battles of Trenton and was later used as a Revolutionary War army hospital. In the early 20th century, members of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames organized The Old Barracks Association to purchase the building and open it as a museum, and today continues to welcome visitors from across the globe to learn the rich history of the site through interpretive programs and exhibits. The Old Barracks Museum largely relies upon the generous contributions of donors and grantors to be able to further its mission of education and preservation, ensuring guests can appreciate New Jersey’s history, the diverse people who made it, and why it matters.
