WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
The Johnson Ferry House at Washington Crossing State Park, New Jersey, cordially invites all interested public to a Washington’s Birthday Celebration, Sunday, February 17 from 1 pm to 4 pm to commemorate the birthday of our nation’s first president. In the parlor, listen to eighteenth century music that Washington would have known played upon the harp by Robin Fickle, and upon the fiddle by Jim Kurzenberger. Find out some well known and not so well known Facts and Quotes about our first Commander in Chief and President. The history of gingerbread, one of Washington’s favorite treats, will be presented, prepared and baked in the winter kitchen hearth by food historian, Susan McLellan Plaisted. Watch woodworking in the stone barn or try your hand at quill pen writing, horn book reading, and colonial toys in the upstairs bed chambers.Refreshment of “1740” ginger snaps with hot and cold cider will be available to all. This is a good family event for school age children and above. Come and go as you like as activities are ongoing.Parking and admission is free but a $5 donation is suggested to defray costs.
