Come celebrate Washington’s Birthday with the Bergen County Historical Society on Sunday, February 25th 1 pm- 4:30 pm at Historic New Bridge Landing. 1201 Main Street, River Edge NJ.
The Tricorne Dance Ensemble which is under the direction of dance mistress Denise Piccino will be performing an hour-long program that will celebrate General Washington through song and dance in the state historic 1752 Steuben House at 1:30 pm and 3 pm. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Ridley and Anne Enslow on the fiddle and hammered dulcimer. Space is limited for each performance.
Also, on display in the Steuben House will be selections from the society’s Washington collection as well as artifacts from the Revolutionary War.
Take a peek at the treasures in the gift shop while you enjoy seasonal refreshments which will be available for purchase inside the tavern.
Don’t forget to visit the society’s authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters will be preparing a Cheshire pork pie, orange chess pie, and syllabub using 18th century recipes.
Re-enactors from the 3rd New Jersey Regiment will be on site demonstrating military life.
Activities for families include a Washington themed scavenger hunt with a prize and the society’s QR Code History Challenge a cell phone-based scavenger hunt where visitors can use their phones to scan QR codes throughout the site to watch videos and answer questions.
Ticket reservations are encouraged: $12 adults, $7 students, BCHS members free.
Free parking available on site or take the train to the “New Bridge Landing” station on the Pascack Valley Line.
Dogs are permitted on site on a leash but not in the houses.
