Beneath the Floorboards at Marlpit Hall: a Special Juneteenth Event

Join the New Jersey Historical Commission and Monmouth County Historical Association for a special Juneteenth event featuring Beneath the Floorboards, an exhibition telling the stories of the enslaved African Americans who once resided at Marlpit Hall.
Curator-led tours, a speaker panel and cultural performance will expand on the exhibition’s narrative exploring the lives an dexperiences of enslaved people in Monmouth County and New Jersey at large. Built circa 1756, Marlpit Hall was home to the prominent Loyalist Taylor family during the American Revolution.
Light refreshments will be provided.

The speaker and performance program will start at 12PM, but attendees are welcome to participate in tours of the exhibition throughout the day. Tours will leave on the hour at 2PM, 3PM and 4PM. Please choose a preferred tour time in the program registration; otherwise, you are welcome to visit the exhibition on your own.
Guests are invited to stop in at any time during the day’s programming. Free limited parking is available on site. The NJ Transit Middletown – New Jersey Station is located one half mile from Marlpit Hall.
