Guided Tours of the Whippany Burying Yard

Sunday, July 4, 2021 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Hanover Township has moved into its fourth century. The Whippany Burying Yard predates the USA, New Jersey, Morris, Warren, and Sussex Counties. The WBY (1718) celebrated its Tricentennial, has the first known Colonial burial in Morris County, and is the site of the first church and school in the region. Resting in the WBY are first settlers, descendants of Charlemagne, ancestors of Presidents and others who fought in the French and Indian, Revolutionary and Civil Wars.

Meet some who have awoken from their long slumber to speak their stories. Hear costumed guides share interesting facets of Hanover’s history. Free to the public.

There is a parking lot just east of the WBY, on Route 10 East. Park and walk west to the cemetery entrance at 325 Route 10 East.
