Mid-Century New Jersey: The Garden State in the 1950s.
Join us for a dynamic new exhibit featuring the Garden State in the 1950s. The postwar boom led to an atom-powered future of gleaming appliances and fast cars! The influence of 50’s culture is still going strong today, with many roots in New Jersey.
The Cornelius Low House/Middlesex County Museum is a Historic National Register home built in 1741 for Cornelius Low a wealthy merchant of Raritan Landing. The home is one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in New Jersey. The Low House has a dual purpose to interpret the history of this fine structure but also to research and mount rotating exhibits about New Jersey history.
Recent exhibits have included a Centennial display on New Jersey during World War I and an exhibit on New Jersey Diners.
