The Whitsun crown has come again! Pinkster is the Dutch name for Whitsunday or Pentecost, and it was a major holiday among the early Dutch settlers, who held weeklong fairs that were also attended by English and German settlers, as well as Native Americans. The Tricorne Dance Ensemble will be dancing around the Maypole at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm. Musical accompaniment on the fiddle and hammered dulcimer will be provided by Ridley and Anne Enslow, who will also perform two short concerts of songs about May Day and Pinkster following the Maypole dances. At 2:30, the company will invite children to dance with them around a child-sized Maypole.
