Pluckemin Cantonment Model Announcement and Reveal Party

Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

For years, the Jacobus Vanderveer House Board of Trustees has planned to create a model of the Pluckemin Cantonment, the Military Training Center that was built under the direction of General Henry Knox in 1778-79 while he stayed at JVH. You may have seen the hand drawing of the Cantonment or watched the video that discusses its construction. At the end of 2020, we received a private grant to build this model and construction is underway. The model will be unveiled on May 19 at our JVH Reveal Party. It will remain on permanent display at JVH.

The Cantonment Model will be first presented to the public during the exclusive JVH Reveal Party: Preview the Cantonment.

Event will be held on Thursday May 19th from 6-9 PM and will feature sampling of Colonial beverages, beer, wine, appetizers, and the opportunity to be one of the first to see our Cantonment Model! Tickets are $75 per person.

The model will have interactive features and an informational video. In addition, the model maker, Stephen Schwab, will be available to answer questions you may have about the construction of the model.

JVH was able to commission the creation of the Pluckemin Cantonment Model with a grant graciously provided to us by one of our Trustees, Dr. Yolanda Cillo. Yolanda is also one of our docents and together with our other docents will be at the event to answer historical questions about the model or JVH.
