Online discussion premieres October 24, 2020 at 10:30am on Facebook
Early Americans read and appreciated the works of Shakespeare. The Founding Fathers were avid theatergoers who used the language of theater to describe and understand their lives as actors on the world stage. George Washington combined allusion to Shakespeare’s Henry V and the metaphor of theater in the “Farewell Orders” to the Armies of the United States” composed at Rockingham State Historic Site.
The Wallace House and Old Dutch Parsonage continues their series reading along with author Ian Doescher’s Shakespeare 2020 Project with an online discussion of Shakespeare and the metaphor of theater in the American Revolution.
