Stories of Slavery in New Jersey Lecture at Peachfield

Slavery was baked into New Jersey from its very beginnings. Meant to jump start a new agricultural community, this provision of one of New Jersey’s founding documents nonetheless made chattel slavery foundational. Presenter and Author Rick Geffken has written numerous articles on various aspects of New Jersey history for local newspapers, magazines, historical societies, and newsletters.
Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required to attend. If you have not been fully vaccinated, you will not be able to enter Peachfield. Masks are required. We will take temperatures upon arrival. Seating will be spaced. We thank you for your cooperation.
Cost per participant is $10.00
