On Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. meet at the Drake House Museum for “Genealogy for Beginners.”
Deb Schiff, Archivist of the Historical Society of Plainfield and Local History Librarian at the Chester Library, will provide attendees with a solid working knowledge of basic genealogic research, a good foundation for distinguishing good from poor resources, and a framework of locations where attendees can find materials to help research their ancestors.
Debra Schiff has a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts, Communications from William Paterson University. She has been the Archivist for the Historical Society of Plainfield since 2014, and she has been working on the Drake House Archives Inventory Project. Funding for the Archives Inventory Project has been made possible in part by the New Jersey Historical Commission, a division of the Department of State, through a grant administered by the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, Department of Parks and Recreation and by a generous Plainfield donor. Ms. Schiff has also done archival projects for the Plainfield Public Library Local History Department.
