Guidelines and application information for FY17 Folk Arts Apprenticeship grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts are now available. Grants are for the period July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017. The application deadline is April 6, 2016.
Folk Arts Apprenticeship grants encourage cultural communities to pass on valued, traditional art forms by providing stipends to master folk artists who help apprentices develop important skills. The application process requires that each apprentice apply with a master artist as a team by providing artistic work samples, information about their shared artistic cultural backgrounds, and the planned scope of work. Free workshops for individuals and teams seeking assistance with the application process will be conducted around the state by Arts Council staff.
