Colonial homes seem scant compared to today’s standards. Houses contained the basics for the residents and any visitor who may have stopped by – a place to sit, an area for work, a basin to wash up, and a bed for sleep. Maintaining these sites and keeping them open to the public takes the hard work of many people, often volunteer friends’ organizations, and aid from numerous resources.
