Though time has obscured many features of the route taken by the American army from Trenton to Princeton in January 1777, the landscape along Quaker Road retains much of its 18th century character. Fortunately a conservation easement on the land will enable generations to enjoy its rural character. A marker erected in 1914 by the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of New Jersey along Quaker Road is one of twelve markers along the Washington Victory Trail in Mercer County. Like a sentinel, the marker allows its visitors to stand in the footsteps of those men who defied British tyranny.
