Washington Crosses the Delaware River in a reenactment every Christmas Day

Live firing at Fort Lee Historic Park.

Fort Lee Historic Park tells the story of the November 1776 Patriot evacuation from this Palisades fortification following British victories in New York. This began Washington’s retreat across New Jersey to Pennsylvania, ultimately laying the groundwork for the Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware River and victories at Trenton and Princeton.
