On Saturday, June 17, 2017, the Heritage Trail Association and the Friends of Bridgewater History will sponsor a symposium commemorating the 240th Anniversary of George Washington’s First Middlebrook Encampment. The events of this encampment led to the British forces abandoning their New Jersey campaign in June, 1777. The symposium will focus on the Continental Army encampment in Bridgewater’s Washington Valley between the First and Second Watchung Mountains (May 26 to July 3, 1777).
