HAWT Presents The Battle of Short Hills- April 25

Join the Historical Association of Woodbridge Township on Monday, April 25th at the Woodbridge Public Library for their monthly meeting and program.
This month’s program will be “The Battle of Short Hills” presented by Walter Stochel. This presentation will cover the June 1777 battle in which the British tried to engage the American Army only to be thwarted by 5,000 brave Americans.
Walter Stochel has been a member of the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society since 1978 and has served as its president three times. He is currently Chair of the Edison Township Open Space Committee, Commissioner of the Dismal Swamp Commission, Vice President of the Edison Greenways group, and was the spearhead of the Middlesex Greenway Project. He also was an activist in 1999 for the Battle of the Short Hills when he began to investigate the site. In 2009 he coordinated for the Metuchen-Edison Historical Society an application to place the battlefield on the National Register of Historic Places which was accomplished in May, 2014.
The program starts at 7PM and is free and open to the public.
