Heritage Partner of the Week- Allaire Village

This week’s featured heritage partner is the Historic Village at Allaire. This amazing historic village is a non-profit organization that hosts tons of family-fun events and activities throughout the year. Don’t miss their first ever Barn Dance event on Saturday, August 6 from 4:00pm-9:00pm. Join them for an evening of music and dancing on the village green.

The Historic Village cordially welcomes special guests, Atwater and Donnelly, who will perform for this event.  The nationally renown musician couple will be bringing their Traditional American, Celtic, and Folk Music, dancing and calling, to the historic 19th century ironworks! Starting at 4:00pm, they will be giving a 90 minute concert on the front lawn of James P. Allaire’s historic summer home. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to bring camp chairs and blankets to relax on. Afterward, there will be a break to explore the village and enjoy food from various venders before the main dance event!

Never been to a 19th century barn dance before? No dancing experience is needed! Elwood from Atwater and Donnelly will be teaching and calling the dance steps, guiding  everyone through the evening. The Libby Prison Minstrels will be performing traditional tunes while we dance by star and candle light! Come be a part of the celebration with Allaire Village’s costumed villagers and volunteers as they lay aside their working lives for an evening of music, period dancing, heritage, and camaraderie! The Historic Village at Allaire invites all to join them in continuing this great American tradition, with an evening of history, heritage, and good old-fashioned family fun!
