This week’s featured heritage partner is the Historical Society of Plainfield. The society maintains the historic Drake House and hosts tours every Sunday afternoon from 2:00pm-4:00pm. The Drake House is the former home of Nathaniel Drake and his family, all of whom were patriots. It was also a witness to General George Washington’s consultations with his officers during and after the Battle of the Short Hills in June 1777. Filled with fascinating artifacts from the 18th and 19th centuries, the home plays host to a variety of events throughout the year including the upcoming “Preserving Your Family’s Treasures” lecture and workshop on August. 14th.
