Monmouth Battle Reenactment Returns after COVID Break

Large crowds flocked to Monmouth Battlefield State Park for the first reenactment of the 1778 Battle of Monmouth since 2019.

Crowds flocked to Monmouth Battlefield State Park on June 18 and 19, 2022 for a two-day commemoration of the 244th anniversary of the June 28, 1778 Battle of Monmouth, the longest one-day battle of the American Revolution. Watch highlights of the day here.

The commemorative event was the first at the park after a two-year break due to the COVID pandemic. Beyond staged battle reenactments each afternoon, visitors had the chance to visit authentic 18th century military camps to talk with living historians about military life during the Revolution. Molly Pitcher, portrayed by Stacy Roth of History on the Hoof, shared the experiences of women during the battle. Artillery and drilling demonstrations rounded out the day.
