New Jersey Association of Museums’ Annual Meeting- June 20 in Morristown

The New Jersey Association of Museums  will host its Annual Meeting at Morristown National Historical Park on June 20. This year’s Keynote Speaker is Jude Pfister, Chief of Cultural Resources at Morristown National Historical Park and author of Morris County’s Acorn Hall.

Dr. Pfister will follow, in a roughly chronological fashion, the fate of Acorn Hall and the families who called it home. The personal, as well as the larger-than-life issues which impacted the owners of the Hall over the years, will be a major focus. The rise of the American estate concept in the 1840s coincided with the building of the first home on the site before it was remodeled into the Hall we know today. This concept will be examined in relation to the owners of the Hall before the concept of historic preservation was introduced with the last private owner, Mary Crane Hone, in the 1950s.
